What’s next?

Well, I have taken some time off from promoting and starting to write the next in the Samantha Cummings series, but I’m gearing up again. I’ve joined Sisters In Crime – a group of mystery writers with a New England Chapter where I can network, attend workshops, and learn how to be a better mystery writer. And I also have my next research appointment scheduled for later this month.

I’ll keep you posted on the research and writing process, and ideas are always welcome!

The Black Squirrel Ball – the event has come and gone

The Black st Squirrel Ball at Stanley Park took place on Friday, August 27th, 2010, and it was all I could have imagined and more. The decorations, designed by Val Vassos of VJS Designs in Westfield, MA, were just as I described in the book, and Tucker’s Restaurant recreated the food to a “T.”

Here are just a few pictures; when I have more, I will post them.

Update from June

It has been a busy month. Plans for the ball are underway, and there have been a few book signings

As the chairperson of the Black Squirrel Ball which will be held on August 27th at Stanley Park, I’ve been working with the staff and volunteer committee to coordinate the details for a successful event. If you are interested in attending, email me your name and address and I will send it along to the park to be added to the invitation list mailing. Sponsors and auction donors are needed, too. Funds raised will help defray costs for improvements to the caterer kitchen in the pavilion.  Come dance to the tunes of Brass Attack and enjoy a wonderful meal to be catered by Tucker’s.

Book signings were a little slow in April and May, but I had two great events in June. One was at the Kent Memorial Library in Suffield, CT sponsored by the Suffield branch of Webster Bank. They even provided cupcakes with the artwork of the book cover. Everyone loved them! Lois from the library did a lovely job organizing the event.

I was at Westfield Feed at the end of June. Although I didn’t sell nearly as many books in June as I did at their event prior to Christmas, I did meet many people who had already read the book and told me how much they enjoyed it. It was certainly an opportunity to share details of the ball to the book fans.

And I was recently interviewed by Mayor Dan Knapik for his cable access show. It will run through July and August.
